Partly CYP-metabolised. Compare the 8-aminoquioline primaquine: Inducer of CYPs 1A1, 1A2 and 1B1.
Chemical description
(To be edited, initial data ST OCT 04) Aminokinoline derivative used in sensitive malaria strains. Administered as tablets in a three-day cure starting with 1200 mg the first day. Vast tissue distribution with accumulation in blood cells and in liver, lungs, kidneys and eyes. Partly converted by CYP 2D6 to de- ethylated metabolites. Slowly excreted with a terminal half life of 50 days. About 25% excreted by the kidneys in unchanged form.
